Tonight / Leon's Blues (Mod) [CD]

An ultra-rare funky, blues inflected soul single from vocalist and songwriter Leon Thomas - not to be confused with the free jazz singer popular in the late 1960s and 70s - this Leon Thomas is more akin to vocalists in the style of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, but with a decidedly blues feel on top. ""Tonight"" b/w ""Leon's Blues,"" originally released in 1977 on the Bareback Records subsidiary Sunshine Records imprint features a playful, straight up funk groove with a blues harmonica added on the ""A"" side, while the soulful ""Leon's Blues"" is featured on the flip. This 45 appears to be the only recorded output from this artist, and he still remains a mystery to this day. Both tunes were written by Thomas and are featured here newly remastered.
