Andrea Joyce Heimer’s richly detailed paintings (and titles!) are infused with the dreamlike imagery of a child’s escape into fantasy, and rendered in a flat, paper-doll-like style. The artist’s narratives evoke both a sense of playfulness and profound introspection that make her work utterly unique yet instantly relatable. Let’s face it, we’ve all been stood up at a rodeo in Montana at one point or another in our lives. We just don’t remember it quite like Heimer does.

Andrea Joyce Heimer (b. 1981, Great Falls, MT, US; lives and works in Ferndale, WA, US) received her MFA from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire. Her work has been exhibited at Gaa Gallery, New York; Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, New York; Colombo Gallery, Milan; Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York and Franklin Parrasch Gallery, New York.
